“Shadow Scripts”
The work derives from self introspection, in connection with the observation of man and his environment, observation of nature and through the process of conquering the material. At a younger age, alongside painting I wrote poetry. Later I transferred poetic writing to my works. Finally, my own iconic-ideogrammatic alphabet came out which evolves and is imprinted on other materials, but it remains one of the main axes of my work.
Observing people in places where they are covered, in the bus on the main roads, in the waiting rooms, on the beach, I notice their form and I try to read the path of the soul on the body map.
What is the this dark aspect of human nature that leads him to destroy his image?
How easy can a man be inhuman?
My previous series of works "Findings", and "Flyview" and the next in progress "Matres" deal with this question. The answer is revealed in the course of time and work…
I constantly observe the atmospheres created by the light with the silhouettes of the forms that are in front of it.
The "Shadowscripts" series of works 2012-2017 is oil pastel on paper that hangs freely, or paper mounted on canvas.
They are an idiotype engraving, writing and painting in overlapping colors.
The black overlaying the basic clear colors, red, yellow and blue, is removed with the stylus around the shapes. The degree of difficulty is that the revealed color must remain clear.
It is a devotional process of revealing light and or revealing the shadow...Each color is a different atmosphere of light.
The work viewed from a distance is an installation of geometric, vertical horizontal and square forms. Closely a concentrated iconic script forces the viewer to “read it”.
Is divided in to four sections: "Acrobats", "Desmots", "Shadow scripts", "Exodus".
Has to do with the concept of man's enclosure in shadow situations and ends with his release.
